Beschreibung

Progesterone is a steroid hormone and progestogen. It is produced in the ovaries and adrenal glands, as well as other tissues such as the placenta. Progesterone is a precursor of the female sex hormone progesterone, which plays an important role in pregnancy and which has a variety of other effects on the body. Progesterone can be used to prevent miscarriages or premature labor by maintaining the uterine lining. It also has been found to have anti-inflammatory properties. Progesterone binds to progesterone receptors on cells, where it stimulates DNA transcription and protein synthesis. Progesterone also stimulates growth of cells, including those of the uterus, corpus luteum, prostate gland, mammary glands, and brain tissue.
