Beschreibung:
3-Pyrrolidinone hydrochloride is a chiral compound with a specific activity in the cerebral cortex of rats. It has been shown to inhibit the uptake of amines and its hydrochloride salts are present in brain homogenates. 3-Pyrrolidinone hydrochloride has also been shown to inhibit glyoxylate, which is an intermediate in the tricarboxylic acid cycle that can cause cell death. This may be due to its ability to inhibit chloride channels and binding to glyoxylate, which prevents it from inhibiting mitochondrial respiration.
