• Beschreibung: Pyromellitic dianhydride is a polymer that has been used in wastewater treatment. It is soluble in water and can be used as a matrix for electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Pyromellitic dianhydride also has antimicrobial properties, which are believed to be due to the hydrolysis of ester linkages. This chemical is produced by heating pyromellitic anhydride with sodium carbonate at high temperatures and can be reacted with methyl ethyl ketone to form polyimides. The thermal expansion of this polymer is higher than that of polyimide and its nitrogen content is higher than polyimide. High values have been observed for human serum, suggesting that it may be genotoxic.
