This reaction is shown in two steps: CH3COCOCH2CH3 + p-nitrophenyl phosphate → CH3COOCOCH2CH2 + p-nitrophenol 2,4-Pentanedione + CH3COOCOCH2CH2 → 2,4-pentanedione-1,5-dione + CO This compound is also used for wastewater treatment and as a ferroelectric material.
