Beschreibung

2-Phenyl-cyclopropylamine hydrochloride is a small-molecule drug that has been shown to be an effective antidepressant treatment in rats. It is thought to work by inhibiting the reuptake of serotonin (5-HT) and norepinephrine. 2-Phenyl-cyclopropylamine hydrochloride does not appear to have any significant effects on hematopoietic or endothelial cells, but it has been shown to inhibit cell proliferation at high concentrations in vitro. This compound also inhibits the growth of cancer cells with wild-type p53, but not those with mutant p53. 2-Phenyl-cyclopropylamine hydrochloride has been shown to inhibit the activity of bv2 microglia cells and 5HT concentrations in cell culture. The drug also alters the appearance of nuclei in cultured human liver endothelial cells.
