Piperazine-N,N'-bis(2-hydroxypropanesulfonic acid) disodium salt is a thermodynamic additive that is used as a solid catalyst in the synthesis of piperazine derivatives. The colloidal properties of this additive are due to its ionic nature and the presence of hydroxyl groups. Piperazine-N,N'-bis(2-hydroxypropanesulfonic acid) disodium salt can be combined with other additives such as abrasives like cyanate and metal oxides such as zirconia to form an inorganic colloid. This additive has been shown to have high catalytic activity at high temperatures.
