Beschreibung:
Pro-Gly-Gly-OH is a bifunctional molecule that can be used as a nutritional supplement. It is a prodrug that is hydrolyzed in vivo to glycine and glycerol. Pro-Gly-Gly-OH has been shown to stimulate the growth of intestinal cells, and is an inhibitor of protein synthesis. Pro-Gly-Gly-OH has been shown to bind Mn2+ ions with high affinity and inhibit the activity of aspartokinase, which regulates the conversion of aspartate into oxaloacetate in mitochondria. The pH optimum for Pro-Gly-Gly-OH is between 7 and 8, and it dissociates at pH 3 or higher.
