Beschreibung

3-Phenylthiomorpholine is an analgesic drug that has been shown to have antibacterial properties. 3-Phenylthiomorpholine binds to the enzyme Cox-1, which is involved in the synthesis of prostaglandins, and inhibits its activity. This inhibition prevents the production of prostaglandin E2 and leads to an analgesic effect. 3-Phenylthiomorpholine also has antiinflammatory properties due to its ability to inhibit Cox-2. 3-Phenylthiomorpholine has been synthesized with a focus on antioxidant activities. The amide group can be hydrolyzed by acid or base, which results in the formation of 3-phenylmorpholinopropionic acid (PMPA), a potent Cox-1 inhibitor with a broader spectrum of action than 3-phenylthiomorpholine.
