Beschreibung:4(3H)-Pyrimidone is an anti-inflammatory drug. The biological studies of 4(3H)-pyrimidone have been carried out using a variety of methods, including x-ray diffraction data and x-ray crystal structures. X-ray diffraction data on the compound has shown that it contains nitrogen atoms and that the compound exists in two tautomers: protonated (4) and deprotonated (3). The protonated form is more active than the deprotonated form. Colloidal gold was used to show that 4(3H)-pyrimidone inhibits the production of inflammatory mediators by human neutrophils. This inhibitory effect may be due to its ability to interfere with intracellular signaling pathways, such as inhibition of protein kinase C and phospholipase A2.
