Produktinformation
- (R)-pentan-2-ol
(R)-(-)-2-Pentanol is an organic solvent that is used for research purposes. It is a reaction product of the lipase enzyme with two solutes, methane and n-hexane. The reaction system is optimal at room temperature and pH 5. This solvent has a cavity that binds to the substrate, which allows for the reaction to occur. (R)-(-)-2-Pentanol is expressed by recombinant bacteria as a gene product in an expression plasmid when grown in the presence of an organic substrate. The dehydrogenase enzyme catalyzes the conversion of (R)-(-)-2-Pentanol into acetaldehyde, which reacts with hydrogen gas to form ethanol. The rate of this chemical reaction can be measured using the kinetic method.
