Polyethylene glycol monooleyl ether (PEG-20) is a nonionic surfactant that is used in a variety of applications, such as personal care products, paints and coatings, textile processing, and pharmaceuticals. PEG-20 has been shown to have no hemolytic activity in vitro. It can be solubilized by the addition of various additives or dissolved in water. PEG-20 has been studied for its ability to increase the pharmacokinetics and reduce the toxicity of drugs by reducing the molecular size of lipophilic compounds.
