Beschreibung

(-)-Perillaldehyde is a fumigant that inhibits the mitochondrial membrane potential and induces locomotor activity. It also has an inhibitory effect on cholesterol acyltransferase. (-)-Perillaldehyde is a chemical that can be found in garlic, onion, and other plants. It has been shown to have pharmacokinetic properties in mice when given intravenously or orally. It is metabolized by the liver via oxidation of the carboxy terminal, which leads to the formation of metabolites with higher cytotoxicity. (-)-Perillaldehyde is used as a control agent for insects, mites, and nematodes because it inhibits β-amino acid synthesis in these organisms.
