Beschreibung

Procyanidin A2 is a natural compound that has been shown to have anti-diabetic properties. It also exhibits significant cytotoxicity and inhibits the activity of several enzymes, including p-hydroxybenzoic acid oxidase, lipoxygenase, cyclooxygenase, and monoamine oxidases. Procyanidin A2 has been shown to inhibit the growth of oral pathogens in vitro. The procyanidins may work by inhibiting energy metabolism in cells or by causing oxidative injury to cellular components. Procyanidin A2 has also been shown to have drug interactions with other drugs that are metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes. This information is based on a model system using human liver microsomes.
