Quinolin-4-ylmethanol is a chemical compound that belongs to the class of quinoline derivatives. It has been shown to have a synergistic interaction with rifampin, an antibiotic that inhibits bacterial RNA synthesis by binding to DNA-dependent RNA polymerase. Quinolin-4-ylmethanol has inhibitory activity against inflammatory diseases and is being investigated as a potential drug target for the treatment of these diseases. Quinolin-4-ylmethanol also has pharmacokinetic properties that are different from other quinoline derivatives, such as quinine. It can be found in plasma concentrations that range from 1.2 ng/mL to 3 ng/mL after administration of 5 mg/kg, which is higher than those seen with other quinoline derivatives (0.1 ng/mL). This difference may be due to its ability to penetrate cells more easily than other compounds in this class.
