Quinmerac is a drug that has been shown to be effective in the treatment of chronic bowel disease. It is an anti-inflammatory drug that inhibits fatty acid synthesis and reduces photosynthetic activity. Quinmerac has been shown to be most effective at concentrations between 0.1 μM and 1 μM, with optimum concentration at 0.5 μM. The drug is used in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, although it has also been shown to have anti-oxidant effects on hematopoietic cells, which may indicate its success as a potential therapeutic agent for other diseases such as cancer or rheumatoid arthritis. Quinmerac also protects against oxidative stress by preventing the depletion of glutathione, which may be due to its ability to inhibit lipid peroxidation and prevent the degradation of membrane lipids.
