2-Quinolinecarbonitrile is a chemical compound in the quinoline class of compounds. It is an inhibitor of the enzyme ido1, which is involved in the synthesis of epidermal growth factor (EGF). This drug has shown anti-inflammatory properties and has been used to treat inflammatory diseases such as psoriasis and Crohn's disease. In addition, 2-Quinolinecarbonitrile has been shown to inhibit cancer cell growth by binding to kinases that are involved in DNA repair. The drug binds to phosphorylated tyrosine residues on these kinases and inhibits their activity. This binding prevents phosphorylation of other proteins, leading to cell death. 2-Quinolinecarbonitrile also inhibits the production of hydrogen peroxide, which is an important factor in inflammation and carcinogenesis.
