Beschreibung

Quinacrine is a drug that is used to treat diseases caused by protozoa and helminths. It is also used as an adjunct in the treatment of schistosomiasis. Quinacrine binds to DNA and inhibits transcription and replication, which leads to cell death. This drug has been shown to be effective against antibiotic-resistant strains of bacteria such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE). Quinacrine has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. The mechanism of action for this drug may be due to its ability to inhibit Jak2 V617F, a protein that regulates the inflammatory response.
