Beschreibung:
(R)-5-Hydroxymethyl tolterodine formate is a potent and selective activator of the human 5-HT3 receptor. It binds to the receptor with an affinity (Ki) of 0.2 nM and activates it with high potency (EC50 = 0.03 nM). The activation of the receptor leads to a fast increase in intracellular Ca2+ levels, which can be blocked by pretreatment with a specific antagonist. This compound also inhibits protein interactions with the 5-HT3 receptor, as shown by its ability to inhibit binding of peptides or antibodies to the receptor.
