• Beschreibung: Reboxetine is a selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor which has been approved for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD) in many countries. It has been used in a number of clinical trials, including two-way crossover studies and long-term efficacy trials. Reboxetine inhibits brain functions by blocking the reuptake of norepinephrine. It also has inhibitory properties against locomotor activity and is often used as an adjunctive treatment with tricyclic antidepressant drugs or other pharmacological agents. Reboxetine is metabolized to its active form, desmethyl-reboxetine, by hepatic cytochrome P450 enzymes, mainly CYP2D6, followed by oxidative dealkylation by CYP2C19. This drug should not be used in patients with hepatic impairment due to its poor bioavailability.
