Beschreibung

Jasmonic acid methyl ester (JA-ME) is a natural methyl ester of jasmonic acid that is produced by plants in response to wounding or other environmental stresses. It is used as a chemical pesticide and can inhibit the growth of bacteria, fungi, and viruses. JA-ME binds to the cytosolic calcium channels and inhibits protein synthesis by inhibiting transcriptional regulation. The inhibition of transcriptional regulation leads to an increase in the levels of free cytosolic Ca2+. This increase in Ca2+ concentration leads to an increase in the rate of polymerase chain reaction (PCR). JA-ME has been shown to have physiological effects on cells, such as increased production of reactive oxygen species and activation of apoptosis pathways.
