• Beschreibung: Angiotensin II is a peptide hormone that regulates blood pressure, fluid balance and glucose metabolism. Angiotensin II is synthesized from the precursor angiotensin I by the action of renin and angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE). The biological function of Angiotensin II is mediated through its binding to two major receptors, the angiotensin type 1 receptor (AT1) and the angiotensin type 2 receptor (AT2). AT1 binds with higher affinity to Ang II and mediates most of its effects. AT2 interacts with lower affinity to Ang II and has been implicated in cancer suppression. It also may regulate growth factors and suppress tumorigenesis. There are several types of Ang II receptors including AT1R, AT2R, MasR, and Matk-II.
