Beschreibung

Selenomethionine is an amino acid that is used as a dietary supplement and has been shown to have a variety of biological functions. It is a component of the enzyme glutathione peroxidase, which catalyzes the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen. Selenomethionine is also used in the synthesis of selenoproteins, which are proteins that contain selenium. Selenoproteins are involved in several biological functions, such as thyroid hormone metabolism and protection against oxidative stress. Selenomethionine may be toxic at high doses and should not be taken by pregnant women or children.
