It is an absorption enhancer that has been shown to increase the bioavailability of estradiol benzoate. Sodium prasterone sulfate has also been investigated as a treatment for metabolic disorders, including cyclase inhibitor and fatty acid disorders. The concentration-time curve of sodium prasterone sulfate in plasma was measured in men and women following administration of 0.5 mg/kg intravenously, and the metabolic rate was found to be higher in women than men. Sodium prasterone sulfate also has an effect on granulosa cells and may be able to stimulate the production of estradiol benzoate in these cells.
