Tetrakis(dimethylamino)borane is a reagent used for the synthesis of aryl chlorides, chloride, and halides. Tetrakis(dimethylamino)borane reacts with amines to give an organoboron compound that can be reduced to produce an alcohol. It can also be used as a cross-coupling agent in organic synthesis. Tetrakis(dimethylamino)borane reacts with carbon tetrachloride or boronic ester to form a boronate ester, which can be dehydrated to produce an alcohol. The temperature at which this reaction takes place varies depending on the nature of the reactants and products. Tetrakis(dimethylamino)borane is commonly used in the reductive elimination of triflates by using hydrogen gas as the reducing agent.
