4-(trifluoromethoxy)benzoic acid is a fluorinated compound that selectively inhibits the enzyme target. It is used in biotherapeutics to detect and quantify the concentration of thionyl, chloride, and surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS). The fluoroquinolone has been shown to be effective for diagnosis of human serum by use of il-10 as a target. 4-(trifluoromethoxy)benzoic acid binds to il-10 and prevents it from binding to its receptor, preventing cytokine production. This allows for the measurement of concentrations of il-10 in human serum.
