1H-Tetrazole-5-carboxylic acid ethyl ester sodium salt (1HTE) is an organic compound that has been used as a ligand in asymmetric synthesis. It has a reversibly magnetic property, which arises from its ability to form complexes with various metal ions. 1HTE can be obtained as a dihydrate or anhydrous salt. It is soluble in organic solvents and crystallizes with the trimorphic system of space group P3(1). The crystals are colorless and have a density of 1.11 g/cm3. Crystals x-ray diffraction studies show that the crystal lattice contains hydrogen bonds and the molecule is stabilized by hydrophobic interactions.
