Beschreibung

2-(2,4,5-Trichlorophenoxy)acetohydrazide (2,4,5-T) is a plant growth regulator that inhibits the activity of enzymes involved in photosynthesis and the reduction of nitrate to ammonia. It is used as an herbicide on crops such as rice and wheat. 2,4,5-T is also a precursor for the production of other herbicides including Agent Orange and Diuron. 2,4,5-T has been shown to inhibit reductase enzymes that are necessary for the synthesis of proteins in plants. The inhibition of these enzymes leads to a reduction in protein synthesis and ultimately cell death. 2,4,5-T also inhibits nitrate reductase enzymes which are necessary for the conversion of nitrates into organic nitrogen compounds such as amino acids and nucleic acid precursors. This inhibition leads to a reduction in protein synthesis and cell death due to lack of essential amino acids or nucleic acid precurs
