[2-(1H-Tetrazol-5-yl)phenyl]amine is a chemical compound that inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to DNA. It has been shown to be an effective antibacterial agent against staphylococcus and enterobacter. [2-(1H-Tetrazol-5-yl)phenyl]amine can also inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells, such as acute lymphoblastic leukemia cells, in a dose dependent manner. The mechanism of action may be due to the inhibition of DNA synthesis or repair, protein synthesis or cell division. This compound has also been shown to have anti-cancer properties in mice with malignant melanoma.
