Beschreibung

4,5,6,7-Tetrahydro-3H-imidazo[4,5-c]pyridine-6-carboxylic acid dihydrochloride is a drug that has been used in the treatment of cervical cancer. This drug is a prodrug that is metabolized into 4,5,6,7-tetrahydro-3H-[1]imidazo[4,5-c]pyridine (THIP), which inhibits the growth of cells by binding to DNA and inhibiting protein synthesis. The hydrochloride salt of THIP has been shown to be effective against various viruses by preventing viral RNA from being translated into proteins. It also has antihypertensive activity and has been shown to reduce blood pressure in hypertensive rats. This drug also has an effect on autoimmune diseases as it inhibits histidine decarboxylase activity in rat liver homogenates and in human serum at concentrations
