It has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro by inhibiting enzymes that are involved in the synthesis of DNA, RNA, and proteins. 5-(2-Thienyl)-1H-pyrazole also inhibits reticulum endoplasmic reticular (ER) ATPase, which is responsible for ER protein transport, and can be used as a technique to study ER function.
