Beschreibung:
2,4,4-Trimethyl-2-pentene is a colorless liquid that is soluble in organic solvents. It can be used as an ion-exchange reagent in the synthesis of perfluorinated compounds. The reaction rate of 2,4,4-trimethyl-2-pentene can be determined by measuring the reactivity of the product and the reactant ions. Reaction intermediates are observed through nmr spectroscopy and areomers can be separated using chromatography. The activation energies for this reaction are low and range from 0.5 to 1 kcal/mol.
