Tris(hydroxymethyl)phosphine, also known as THMP, is an odorous water-soluble disulfide reducing agents used with protein samples. Thanks to the formation of the stable phosphine oxide, the reduction reaction is driven to completion and THMP can be used in stoichiometric amounts.
