Beschreibung

2,2,6-Trimethyl-4H-1,3-dioxin-4-one is a pyridinium salt that is reactive and has been shown to be an activator of the enzyme hydroxylase. This compound can be used as a precursor to synthesize biologically active compounds such as aldimines with prenyl groups. 2,2,6-Trimethyl-4H-1,3-dioxin-4-one also has tuberculostatic activity and is able to inhibit the growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis by hydration. It can also be used for the synthesis of amines with hydroxyl groups. The activation energies for reactions involving 2,2,6-Trimethyl-4H-1,3-dioxin-4-one are constant at −24.5 kJ/mol and −14.8 kJ/mol respectively.
