Tolylfluanid is an aminotransferase inhibitor that has been shown to be effective in the treatment of a number of plant diseases, including bacterial spot and powdery mildew. Tolylfluanid is used as a chemical pesticide and inhibits photosynthetic activity by inhibiting fatty acid biosynthesis. It also has response elements that are activated by light, which may lead to its genotoxic activity. Tolylfluanid prevents mitochondrial membrane potential from being reduced and intracellular Ca2+ levels from being increased, leading to cell death.
