Tebupirimfos is an organophosphate insecticide that inhibits the enzyme acetylcholinesterase. It has been shown to cause rapid death of insects by inhibiting the activity of acetylcholinesterase, an enzyme that plays a major role in transmitting nerve signals. This chemical also has been shown to be stable against both acid and base hydrolysis and to possess a low volatility. Tebupirimfos is not toxic to rats but does inhibit the activity of rat liver microsomes. The analytical method for tebupirimfos is gas chromatography with mass spectrometry detection (GC-MS).
