• Beschreibung: Treprostinil is a vasodilator that is used to treat pulmonary hypertension. It is also used to treat congestive heart failure, and has been shown to have potential in the treatment of Parkinson's disease and other neurological disorders. Treprostinil was developed for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) by improving blood flow in the lungs. Treprostinil is an analog of prostacyclin, which is a naturally occurring substance produced by the body that causes blood vessels to relax and widen. Treprostinil binds to platelets and causes them to release substances that cause blood vessels to widen, leading to improved blood flow in the lungs. This drug can be given by mouth or intravenously and has few side effects at therapeutic doses, although it may cause liver problems or high blood pressure when taken orally.
