Beschreibung

2,4,6-Triacetylphloroglucinol is a cytotoxic agent that has been shown to be effective in the treatment of cervical cancer. 2,4,6-Triacetylphloroglucinol inhibits the growth of cervical cancer cells by decreasing mitochondrial membrane potential and increasing the proton concentration. It also has significant cytotoxicity against other types of cancers and is toxic to human serum. The compound is not active against viruses or fungi. The mechanism of action is unknown but may involve an exothermic reaction with nucleic acids or proteins. 2,4,6-Triacetylphloroglucinol has pharmacokinetic properties that are characterized as rapid absorption from the gastrointestinal tract and slow elimination from the body.
