• Beschreibung: P-topolin is a potent inhibitor of the P-glycoprotein (P-gp) transporter. This protein is responsible for drug efflux and is overexpressed in cancers such as cervical cancer. Inhibition of P-gp by p-topolin leads to increased accumulation of cytotoxic drugs in tumor cells, inhibiting their growth and proliferation. P-topolin also has anti-inflammatory properties that are due to its inhibition of the production of inflammatory cytokines, such as gamma-aminobutyric acid, prostaglandins and leukotrienes. The compound has been shown to have no effects on locomotor activity or body weight in mice at doses up to 1000 mg/kg. P-topolin also has a high affinity for the GABA receptor and inhibits its response to GABA stimulation by reducing the binding affinity for GABA at the receptor site.
