Beschreibung

Temocillin disodium is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that inhibits protein synthesis. Temocillin disodium is a prodrug that is hydrolyzed in vivo to temocillin, its active form. This product has been shown to inhibit the growth of certain bacterial strains, including Escherichia coli and Enterobacter cloacae. Temocillin disodium binds to the ribosomal 30S subunit and blocks the site for aminoacyl-tRNA binding, which prevents the formation of a functional translational complex and blocks protein synthesis. It also inhibits beta-lactamase activity by binding to bacterial cell wall penicillin-binding proteins, as well as inhibiting fatty acid biosynthesis by blocking acyl carrier protein (ACP) synthase, leading to cell death.
