4-(Trifluoromethoxy)benzenesulfonamide is a sulfonamide with anti-fungal and anti-cancer properties. It is an inhibitor of dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4), which is an enzyme that breaks down the glucagon-like peptide (GLP). This leads to increased GLP levels, which in turn stimulates insulin secretion from the pancreas. 4-(Trifluoromethoxy)benzenesulfonamide has been shown to be toxic to bacterial strains and has been used as an antibiotic for cancer treatment. It also has a fungicidal activity against Candida albicans, Cryptococcus neoformans, Aspergillus fumigatus, and dermatophytes. The compound is being evaluated in a clinical trial as a treatment for type 2 diabetes mellitus.
