Triethanolamine borate is a chemical compound that is used in the production of detergents and soaps. It has an acid complex with anhydrous sodium hydroxide and calcium stearate, which produces a matrix effect that stabilizes fatty acids. Triethanolamine borate also reacts with metal ions to form chelates, which are used as catalysts for chemical reactions. The addition of triethanolamine borate to sodium citrate provides a constant pressure environment, which can be measured gravimetrically. Triethanolamine borate also reacts with nitrogen atoms to form boron nitride and sodium carbonate, which is used as a filler in some products.
