Tofenacin hydrochloride is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that belongs to the class of phenylacetic acid derivatives. It is used for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, as well as other types of inflammatory diseases. Tofenacin hydrochloride also has an inhibitory effect on the uptake of norepinephrine into synapses in rat brain tissue and may have some type of binding affinity for cb2 receptors. The chemical structure of Tofenacin hydrochloride consists of a benzene ring with an acetic acid substituent and a hydroxyl group on one side. This drug is metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes, which are found in human liver microsomes. Tofenacin hydrochloride has been shown to be effective against infectious diseases such as tuberculosis, malaria, and leprosy.
