Trimethylsilylmethyl azide is a chemical reagent that is used in the synthesis of azides. Trimethylsilylmethyl azide can be produced by reacting methylmagnesium bromide with trimethylsilyl chloride. It has been shown to have antiviral potency and inhibitory effects on replicon cells, which are tumor cells that replicate DNA without any regulation by host cell proteins. Trimethylsilylmethyl azide also inhibits soluble guanylate cyclase and has a hydroxyl group, which may cause an inhibitory effect on growth factor activity.
