• Beschreibung: Tetrahydrofuranamine is an enamine that can exist in two tautomeric forms, the keto form and the enol form. It is a chiral molecule with four stereogenic centres. The keto form is more stable than the enol form due to resonance stabilization. Tetrahydrofuranamine has been synthesized by reacting l-tartaric acid with ammonia and hydrogen chloride. This reaction produces an imine, which upon heating to 160°C converts to (R)-(-)-tetrahydrofurfurylamine in high yield. This compound can be used as a precursor for other compounds such as cyclopentanol or dihydropyranone.
