Tetrakis(trifluoro-2,4-pentanedionato)zirconium(IV) is a coordination compound that contains a zirconium atom. The crystal structure of the compound is elongated and monoclinic, with the Zr atoms occupying four corners of the unit cell. Tetrakis(trifluoro-2,4-pentanedionato)zirconium(IV) has an octahedral geometry around the zirconium atom and six oxygen atoms are coordinated to it. The coordination environment around the zirconium atom can be described as square planar. Coordination energies for this compound have been measured using X-ray diffraction and reported to be -9.5 kcal/mol in the crystal x-ray diffraction environment and -6.3 kcal/mol in the mononuclear x-ray environment. Waals interactions between molecules are also present in this compound, which contribute to its
