Produktinformation
- Triethoxy(3-isocyanatopropyl)silane3-(Triethoxysilyl)propyl isocyanate
3-Isocyanatopropyltriethoxysilane is a cationic polymerization agent that reacts with ethylene diamine and water vapor to form polysiloxanes. This compound has been used as an antimicrobial agent in the prevention of bacterial and fungal growth on contact lenses, but it must be combined with other agents such as hydrogen peroxide or chlorhexidine. 3-Isocyanatopropyltriethoxysilane also has been used for the synthesis of pluronic p123 and pluronic f127. These compounds are thermosensitive block copolymers that have been shown to have a high affinity for phosphotungstic acid, which is a stain that is difficult to remove from surfaces such as glassware. The hydroxyl group on 3-isocyanatopropyltriethoxysilane can react with phosphorus pentoxide to form isocyanate groups, which are useful building blocks in organic chemistry.
