Beschreibung

7,8,4'-Trimethoxyisoflavone is a phenolic compound that has been shown to have pharmacological properties. It is a potent anticancer agent and has been used as a primer in the detection of polymorphisms and the regression of cancer cells. 7,8,4'-Trimethoxyisoflavone has also been shown to attenuate markers of inflammation and oxidative stress in mice with induced colitis. This compound also inhibits the expression of calycosinase, which is involved in pigment production in plants. The activity of this compound may be due to its ability to inhibit DNA synthesis through inhibition of cell division or by preventing the accumulation of reactive oxygen species. There are many methodologies for synthesizing 7,8,4'-trimethoxyisoflavone but most involve the use of iron chloride or copper sulfate as catalysts.
