Beschreibung

Tetraethylene glycol monobenzyl ether (TEGMBE) is a fatty acid-derived chemical that acts as a corrosion inhibitor. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of lipase and monoacylglycerol lipase, which are enzymes involved in fat digestion. TEGMBE also has an effect on viscosity, which can be seen in its use as a thickener in some foods. TEGMBE is metabolized by conjugation with glutathione, forming mercapturic acid derivatives and cysteine conjugates. TEGMBE is not absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract and so does not have any effect on the intestinal flora or digestive enzymes.
