1,1,3,3-Tetramethyldisilazane is a chemical compound that is used in the synthesis of sodium hydroxide. It is also used in the preparation of RNA for use in molecular modeling. 1,1,3,3-Tetramethyldisilazane has been shown to react with primary amines to form secondary amines and with alcohols to form ethers. It can be used as a light emitter and has an optical emission maximum at 466 nm. 1,1,3,3-Tetramethyldisilazane can be used as a sample preparation agent for functional groups such as amino groups and carboxylic acid groups. The molecule has an affinity for boron nitride (BN) and has been shown to have clinical data that suggests it may be useful in treating cancer.
