2,2,4-Trimethylcyclopentanone is a cyclic ketone with the molecular formula CH(CH)3CO. It has a tautomeric equilibrium with 2,2-dimethylcyclohexanone. The compound is prepared by the addition of acetyl chloride to an aldehyde in the presence of base. The compound exhibits UV absorption at 270 nm and an uv spectrum indicative of a cyclic ketone.
